The Sense of tHe Rising Sun

It is a poly-sensory element that joins the two souls of the exhibit, from actual experiences offered by “Twenty-four Seasons” and “Tokamachi, the land of snow” (the ground floor of Barolo Palace will lead the visitors to discover the hidden meaning of the art of kimono) that the underground soul o Corte d’Appello Street will find a reason for being and a sign of the new Japan: the youth and alternative culture, J-pop, in  these last  years has made the land of the rising sun a reference point for trends in fashion and design.

The title itself already offers the spectator different levels with which to make a thorough examination and reading. It is from this viewpoint that one can confront Japan and develop feelings that offer a suggestive, certainly not exhaustive, slice of  what is the new Nippon culture.

Forget what you already know about Japan , which are too simplistic to be seen in this way and take a few suggestions from the outside. If it is true that western fashion, the United States in particular, has found fertile ground in Japan , then it is also true that Japanese youths have been for a long time freed from the “little brother” addiction to western fashion and have began to dictate law.

Here, they have given birth to tendencies and fashions that have influenced our young generations: the revolution and conquest have begun.

Taste, fashion and the speed of modern Japanese life, which are so far from the rituals of classic Japan are constantly influenced and in the end have become the focal point for understanding the typical behaviour of  a new generation, so far from our own social codes.
